Technology & application at the cellar entrance

Our aluminum stop log systems for cellar doors use a high-quality EPDM sponge rubber seal. This is pre-assembled in the lowest profile and reliably compensates for unevenness in the floor, such as tile joints or rough concrete, through compression. This effectively stops water from flowing under the barrier.
We recommend the PREFA - Loidhold Flutkit Profi for basement staircases. It can be installed either directly in the door reveal or in front of the staircase. For cellar doors, it is particularly important to choose a system that can be used quickly by one person even in heavy rain and flash floods.
Assembly is completed without tools and in seconds: the lightweight dam beams are pushed into the fixed guide rails. The beams are fixed from above using the clamping pieces (star grips), which press the floor seal firmly onto the substrate. This guarantees maximum tightness for your cellar entrance.
Yes, the PREFA Flutkit Profi system is tested and certified in accordance with the guidelines of the European Flood Protection Association (protection class 1). This provides protection against pressing water against cellar and front doors.

Material & Quality

The system is designed for speed. The weight per running meter is only approx. 3 kg for the 25 mm profile and approx. 4.12 kg for the 50 mm profile. This means that the protection for a standard cellar door can easily be fitted by senior citizens or individuals.
Our systems are made of corrosion-resistant aluminum. Unlike sandbags, they do not rot and can be used for decades. We also offer a long-term spare parts guarantee for seals and clamping pieces.

AREAS OF APPLICATION

Property protection

With the special aluminum dam beams, you can quickly seal off various areas of the house that offer points of attack for water:

  • Door openings (e.g. garage entrances and garage doors)
  • Doors (e.g. front doors, entrance doors, cellar doors, patio doors, balcony doors, lift and slide doors)
  • Windows (e.g. basement windows)

By individually adjusting the length of the dam beam, it is possible to protect windows, doors and gates from water ingress. PREFA object protection is suitable for use in private homes, for example in a detached house, as well as for larger company buildings. The dam beams and the permanently installed fastening profiles can be individually colored to match the design of your façade.

Landscape protection

If you want to protect larger flood-prone areas or objects (such as driveways, roads or paths) from flooding, you can use PREFA flood protection as landscape protection. The protection is provided by aluminum walls that are set up in open areas with the help of ground sleeves. This system is ideal for you if you want to protect your house or property from a passing stream, for example, which could potentially significantly exceed the normal water level during heavy storms.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 Prefa

1. INSERTING THE LOWEST DAM BEAM

Start the installation by inserting the dam beam with the bottom seal from above at an angle into the guide of the base profiles. Press the dam beam down firmly until the bottom seal rests cleanly on the ground.

2. INTRODUCTION OF FURTHER DAM BEAMS

When the lowest dam beam is securely and evenly positioned, continue with the insertion of the other dam beams. To do this, insert the elements from above at an angle into the guide of the base profiles as in step 1 and press them downwards until the tongue and groove interlock and the seals fit neatly.

3. ATTACHING THE CLAMPING PIECES

Slide the clamping pieces with the hinged foot down into the guide of the base profiles and press them down until the hinged foot touches the top profile. Then slightly tighten the screw on the clamping piece using a hexagon wrench.

4. UNCOVER THE GROUND SOCKETS

If you use spacers for landscape protection, steps 4-6 must also be observed beforehand. Unscrew the countersunk screw in the cover plate of the floor sleeve by about one centimeter, pull out the cover plate and remove it.

5. SET UP CENTER COLUMN

You can now anchor the center column in the exposed ground sockets by rotating it. Make sure that the sealing ring fits at the lower end.

6. POSSIBLE INSTALLATION OF A SUPPORT

If the built-up protective wall exceeds an area of 2 × 2 meters, the use of an additional support must be clarified.

The following examples show possible applications of the Prefa flood protection dam locks in the field of building protection and landscape protection. The flood protection can also be installed over long distances.

DAMBARKEN (property and landscape protection) The profile is made of a robust and corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy and is also suitable for long storage thanks to the low maintenance requirements. The profiles are available in two thicknesses (50 mm and 80 mm). With System 80, taller constructions and larger spans are possible. The aluminum profiles are simply stacked on top of one another in a tongue and groove system. High stability and maximum safety is guaranteed by the interlocking of the dam beams. The profiles are pushed into the fastening profiles on both sides and fixed from above with clamping pieces.

FASTENING PROFILE (for property protection) The fixed fastening profiles can be connected in three ways: In, behind or in front of the reveal, as described above. The fixing is dimensioned according to the static requirements to match the overall system and must be decided on a case-by-case basis. Inlaid system seals made of foam rubber prevent the ingress of water. The profiles are available up to a length of 6 m and can be installed up to 3 m high. A static calculation is recommended in any case and we also offer it without obligation and free of charge. The inserted system seal consists of EPDM / foam rubber and can be easily exchanged if necessary. After use, the profiles and seals must be cleaned and checked in order to guarantee functionality in the event of future events.

per running meter. For initial installation, a ground socket must be attached to a suitable surface
in advance. The uprights are simply anchored in the ground socket without special tools using a bayonet lock.
Additional supports must be provided if required. The landscape protection is only offered with posts for setting in concrete.
